PrEP is a highly effective tool in the battle against HIV, boasting the ability to reduce the risk of infection by up to 99% when taken consistently. Its effectiveness is further enhanced when used in conjunction with other preventive measures, such as condom usage. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted approval for two PrEP medications: Truvada® and Descovy®.
